One think that always crosses my mind is did our ancestors had bad eyesight at a young age. The answer is NO, maximum of them affected their eyesight after 50 plus of their age and went for prescription glasses. However today’s youth and even the kids are seen with prescription glasses.
This is because of the hi-tech lifestyle that we all lead. Using computer for hours and hours together and watching television have an adverse effect on the eyesight. What’s more, under the severe competition, modern people must spend a great deal of time studying. People need to learn amounts of knowledge in order to lay behind others. Thus our eyes become strained. What’s worse, our vision may become blurred under the intensive studying and working. While in the ancient time, people had less pressure and fewer things to do in the relatively simple world. So they seldom put a strain on their eyes. In fact, there was probability that ancients suffered from myopia due to genetic, occupational, environmental and other factors. Those who did develop it was said to have weak eyes.
